The Power of the Tongue

🚀 Fact of the Week

In adults over 65, being classified as “overweight” (BMI 25–29.9) is often associated with lower mortality than being in the “normal” BMI range.

In some cases, mild obesity shows neutral — or even similar — survival outcomes.

Why?

• BMI doesn’t distinguish between fat and muscle.
• A lower BMI in older adults often reflects illness, frailty, or muscle loss — not optimal health.

In other words:

Leaner isn’t always healthier.
Especially as you age.

Context matters more than a number.

🧠This Week's Learning: The Power of the Tongue

I don’t think we fully understand just how powerful our words are.

Think about a horse.
It’s big. Strong. Powerful.
Yet we control it with a small bridle in its mouth.

Think about a huge ship.
Driven by strong winds. Massive in size.
Yet it’s steered by a very small rudder.

Small things.
Huge direction.

Your tongue works the same way.

It’s one of the smallest parts of your body — yet it has enormous influence over the direction of your life.

A forest fire can start with one tiny spark.

And in the same way, the way you speak about yourself can either build you… or burn you down.

When you constantly say:
“I’m lazy.”
“I’m overweight.”
“I’m useless.”

You’re steering yourself toward that identity.
You’re lighting the match.

But here’s the flip side.

If your words can destroy — they can also build.

Speak strength over yourself.
Speak discipline.
Speak growth.

You don’t become confident and then talk confidently.
You talk confidently — and grow into it.

Be careful what you rehearse with your tongue.
Your life follows its direction.

🏗️ JITY Update

Recently I was speaking to a successful business owner and filling him in on the JITY journey so far.

I told him the truth.

I feel stuck in the mud.

Working harder than I ever have… yet still no protein tubs on shelves. No finished product for sale. Just hours and hours of work that nobody sees.

I wasn’t thinking of quitting — but I was tempted to take my foot off the gas.

What he told me stuck:

Your future self isn’t built by hype.
It’s built by the hours you spend alone working on a dream no one else can see yet.

Some entrepreneurs live in that dark period for years.
Some for months.

It’s the phase where most people give up.
Because it looks like nothing is happening.

But on the other side of that invisible work is a real business.

This is the unsexy foundation stage.

So while I know it feels like it’s taking a long time until those first JITY protein tubs are finally ready — trust me, it feels twice as long on this side.

We appreciate your patience more than you know.

Train hard. Think deep.
