Turning Setbacks Into Stepping Stones

🤯 Factoid of the Week:
Did you know J.K. Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers before Harry Potter was finally accepted? One editor even suggested she keep it as a hobby project.
Twelve harsh “no’s” later, she got her break — a journey that has since made her worth over $1.2 billion (2025).
A good reminder: it’s not failure, it’s just a setback.

🧠This Week’s Learning:
“More people lose from fear of failure than actual failure.” – Alex Hormozi
I came across a post from Hormozi recently that flipped how I look at failure. He said this: unless you die, failure is psychological. It’s just how you choose to label the outcome. If something doesn’t go the way you expected, you can call it failure—or you can call it feedback. That perspective changes everything.
Here’s the truth:
- Thinking too much becomes failure.
- Trying and failing eventually becomes success.
- The person who never takes a shot loses before they start—like the parable of the farmer who watches the clouds but never plants a seed.
Luck vs. success? It’s simple. Success is just the result of failing enough times, learning each time, and eventually hitting the win. The more failures you stack (and learn from), the less chance you have of failing next time.
Hormozi wrapped it up perfectly with the 3 F’s:
- Failure → inevitable.
- Feedback → priceless.
- Fools → avoid at all costs.
Master those, and you win.
Everyone’s got different fears to face.
For you, it might be wanting to get into running — but holding back because you’re scared people will judge you for doing 5k in 40 minutes.
Or maybe it’s making your first investment, losing money, and then feeling stupid… telling yourself you’ll never try again (I’ve been there). But the truth is, the most valuable thing for your future self is learning from that failure and using it to make the next move stronger.
For others, it might be starting their dream business — but being terrified of what people will say if they fail.
At the end of the day, the fear of failure isn’t the problem. What matters is how you see the failure, and how you use it. Because the next time you start, you’re not starting from scratch… you’re starting from experience.

🏗️ JITY Update:
Â
We’re heading to MAC Games 3.0 and honestly… we’re absolutely buzzing for the opportunity.
When I first started out, one of my biggest role models was Ben Francis, the founder of Gymshark. I’ve always loved his story of starting from scratch and building a billion-dollar empire. He often says their first event, BodyPower back in 2013, was the moment that changed everything for the brand.
So as a founder, when we got invited to our first event, I said yes straight away — before I even realised… I had no new samples, not enough hoodies for the show, and pretty much zero brand traction.
But that’s exactly what Jity stands for — taking on the impossible. And now, 10 days out, we’ve got:
âś… Samples ready for tasting this week
âś… Hoodies imported from our manufacturer in Portugal
âś… Brand new shakers made for the event
âś… Signs for our stand locked in
This is a huge milestone for the Jity brand and one we’re so excited about. If you’re into CrossFit, follow the link to sign up a team — or just come along on the day, catch the action, and visit our pop-up stand.
