The Power of Perseverance

🚀 Fact of the Week: Growing Up, Without Moving Out?
In 2011, roughly 1 in 8 thirty-year-olds in Ireland lived with their parents.
By 2022, that figure had jumped to 1 in 5.
That's a pretty significant shift in just over a decade.
And it raises an interesting question: what does independence look like when the cost of achieving it keeps moving further out of reach?
🧠 This Week’s Learning: The Power of Perseverance
Through trials of many kinds, we build perseverance. And through perseverance, we become stronger.
Starting JITY has been the toughest test of my life. It’s been my own Mount Everest.
And honestly, I thought launching the product would feel like reaching the summit. But now that we’re live, the problems haven’t disappeared. If anything, I’m more aware of how far we still have to go.
Looking back at the person I was two years ago, though, I’m proud. Proud of the times I refused to take no for an answer. The days I got to work despite how I felt. The moments I kept going when giving up would have been easier.
I haven’t achieved everything I set out to do. But I’ve become a stronger person in the process.
And that’s the thing about difficult goals. The real reward isn’t just what you achieve. It’s who you become trying to achieve it.
I came across the story of Guglielmo Marconi this week that brought this home.
In 1894, Marconi began experimenting with wireless signals from his home in Italy. After months of reading, sketching diagrams and working tirelessly, he developed a device that could send a signal from one floor of a building to another.
When he demonstrated it to his parents, his mother was amazed. His father, however, questioned the point of sending a signal such a short distance.
Imagine spending months working on something, only to have someone question its value the moment you show them.
Marconi could have taken that as a sign to stop. Instead, he kept going. He pushed the signal further, from one hill to another, and eventually beyond what people thought possible.
His work helped pioneer wireless telegraphy, laying important foundations for modern radio. In 1909, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics.
The lesson isn't that every ambitious goal will end with a Nobel Prize. It's that progress often begins with something small, imperfect and easy for others to dismiss.
You don't need everyone to understand the vision. You need the discipline to keep working towards it.
So here's your challenge this week:
Do hard things.
Set goals that scare you a little. Put yourself in situations that demand more from you. Do the work when motivation disappears. And when things don't go to plan, don't immediately assume you're on the wrong path.
You might not be getting closer to the finish line as quickly as you'd like. But you could be building the person capable of reaching it.
“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” — Proverbs 13:4
🏗️ JITY Update: We're Just Getting Started
The product is flying out, the feedback has been brilliant, and the diary is filling up with pop-up events. Seeing people try JITY for the first time and hearing their thoughts has been a massive boost. There's a long way to go, but we're building momentum, and we're absolutely buzzing with how the launch has gone.
It's not all perfect, though.
One thing we're disappointed with is the tub label. The text has come back much smaller than we'd hoped, making some of it difficult to read. It's something we'll be working to improve, but with minimum order quantities, we've currently got 800 labels to use before we can make the changes.
🎁 A Little Something for the Community
When we first started this newsletter, we promised we'd give back to the people who backed us early. It's time to deliver on that promise.
Over the next seven days, we'll be giving away one tub of JITY Chicken Protein every day to our newsletter subscribers.
Keep an eye on our Instagram Stories, where we'll announce each day's winner.
If you've been following the journey from the beginning, this one's for you. Thank you for being part of something we're building from the ground up.
We're only getting started.
Train hard. Think deep.
